Poundland to Test Sub-£1 Price Points

Discount retailer Poundland is to trial the sale of products at less than £1 as it moves towards being a 'simple price retailer' instead of a 'single price retailer'.
It will also have items priced at £1.50, £3 and £4, joining items at £2 and £5 price points which were introduced in 2017.
The trial will take place at stores in the Midlands and will feature items such as 500g Napolina Passata and 75g Princes Sardine & Tomato Paste at 50p, and 100ml Colgate Toothpaste for 75p.
Barry Williams, managing director of Poundland, said: “We promise customers amazing value and we are committed to fulfilling that promise on the widest range of items.
“While three quarters of the products we offer will still be £1, it’s important we look to broaden our ranges elsewhere, whether above or below £1.
“Our customers are among the savviest in the country. We know that and it’s why we’re moving at the pace they dictate to become the simple price retailer they want us to be.”
