Poundland Opens Biggest UK Store

Poundland Nottingham
  • Poundland to open new Nottingham store – its biggest yet – tomorrow [Saturday 12th February] at 9am
  • More PEP&CO clothing and homeware products than ever before
  • Great service and convenience guaranteed with 75 colleagues and extra-wide aisles

Poundland is opening its biggest UK store this week, offering its widest range of products yet including the largest selection of PEP&CO clothing and homeware and setting new standards in customer service.

The new store at Nottingham Riverside retail park opens on Saturday 12 February and at 15,000 square feet is the largest store yet to be opened by Poundland and over twice the size of a typical 6,000 sq ft Poundland store.

The Nottingham Riverside store will also be home to Poundland’s biggest team to date, with 75 full and part-time colleagues, all ready to make sure customers get a fantastic shopping experience.

More than a third of the space will be dedicated to PEP&CO, allowing it to offer the biggest range from the UK’s fastest growing clothing brand – now one of the top 20 clothing retailers in the UK in less than seven years since its launch.

As well as womenswear, menswear and kidswear –the PEP&CO Home department will include the very latest 2022 ranges including new kitchen storage options, faux plants, bathroom accessories and soft furnishings.  It will also have two items currently setting the internet alight – new double-walled mugs and a wire fruit basket.

Nottingham Riverside has been designed to give Poundland customers maximum convenience, with extra wide aisles to make navigating the store easier, as well as trolleys and the kind of belted checkouts they’re used to seeing at supermarkets.  The PEP&CO ‘shop-in-shop’ will also have changing rooms for customer use.

The whole store will have a modern, contemporary feel from the use of lightboxes, digital signage and mannequins to the clean vistas, across the store as replacement stock is kept in the warehouse, not on high shelves across the shop floor.

Customers will see the amazing value they have come to expect across categories including food and drink, home and pet, entertainment and stationery, but there will also be some surprises in store.

The size of the store and the ability to display wide ranges to maximum effect makes it even more attractive to leading brands.

Nottingham Riverside will be the first Poundland to offer a range of small domestic appliances and customers will be able to choose from a broad selection of items from Russell Hobbs, such as toasters, kettles and irons.

It will feature an even wider range of health and beauty products than usual and, in another first, will have a dedicated Rimmel cosmetics display.

In creating the store, Poundland has hand-picked popular features from other locations - - including its new pilot Poundland Local stores.

Customers can take advantage of a food ‘to-go’ area at the front and pick up a takeaway coffee from a Costa Express self-serve bar, and snacks and pastries from Poundbakery.

Nottingham Riverside will join the growing number of stores – set to pass 350 this year – to offer chilled and frozen food. It will also have a fresh produce section and a selection of beers, wines and spirits.

Customers will be able to pick up more of what they love from extended ranges in key categories including greetings cards, pets and children’s toys.

Barry Williams, Poundland managing director, said: “Nottingham Riverside sets a new standard for Poundland. It’s our biggest and best store yet and it means we can offer a wider range than ever before, from longstanding Poundland favourites to new items that our customers are going to love.

“Our colleagues have worked flat out to get this superb store ready. But the story doesn’t stop here, because we’re already working on a new store at Teesside Park in the north east.”

Poundland’s Nottingham store will be formally opened on Saturday morning at 9.00am by some of the East Midlands’ tallest people – 7-foot tall Morakinyo Williams and 6ft 2-inch Kyle Jimenez - basketball players from the “Hoods” – the Nottingham Hoods Basketball club.
