Plans for new Wickes store in Corby
Plans have been submitted for a brand new Wickes store in Corby.
The retailer, which has more than 200 stores nationwide, focuses on supplies and materials for homeowners and the building trade.
The Corby store will be built on currently undeveloped land to the north of Courier Road, near Pheonix Parkway.
The nearest Wickes stores to Corby are in Kettering, Rushden and Northampton.
The plans are for a 1,858 sq m ground floor unit with a 465 sq m mezzanine level, as well as a new access road to the site, a car park with 75 spaces and an area for cycles.
The store would employ 25 people full-time, and be open from 7am to 9pm every day including Sundays and Bank Holidays.
There are a number of other DIY stores close by, including Screwfix, Jewson, Plumb Centre, The Range, West End DIY, Jackson Building Centre, UK Timber, Howarth Timber & Building Supplies and Crown Decorating Centre.
The developers say, based on research elsewhere, that at least 40 per cent of Wickes customers will also visit one of these stores during the same visit.
