Planning permission sought for Morrisons-B&Q tie up in South Ribble
Plans to divide a DIY store in two to make way for a supermarket have been lodged with South Ribble Council.
B&Q and Morrisons have submitted a planning application for Craven Drive in Bamber Bridge.
If approved, the plans will divide the existing B&Q store into a smaller new B&Q store and a new Fresh Format Morrisons foodstore.
The proposal is expected to create up to 250 new local jobs, all with training opportunities.
Richard Haynes, of Morrisons, said: “I am delighted with the response we received at our recent public exhibition, and submitting this application marks the next key milestone for this project.”
Scott Sharp, divisional director west for B&Q added: “We are delighted to be working with Morrisons to revitalise an established shopping location and renew our commitment to Bamber Bridge.”
