Pepco Opens 100th Italian Store
- New Pepco store forms important milestone in the Group’s profitable store expansion
- Pepco retail brand operates across 17 countries, demonstrating its pan-European presence
- Pepco Group on track to launch in Portugal and Bosnia and Herzegovina later this year
Pepco Group, the fast-growing pan-European variety discount retailer, and owner of the Pepco and Dealz brands across Europe and Poundland in the UK, today announces the opening of its 100th Pepco store in Italy.
The store opening in the Parco Da Vinci Shopping Centre in Rome is an important milestone for the Group and is testament to the success of its profitable pan-European store expansion programme, following continued expansion in existing and new markets in recent years. Today, the Pepco brand operates more than 3,000 stores spanning Estonia in northern Europe to Italy in the south, and from Spain in the west to Bulgaria in eastern Europe.
Western Europe is an increasingly important market for Pepco, with stores operating across Spain, Germany, Austria and Greece, and the expansion further demonstrating that the whole of Europe is addressable to the Group. Earlier this month, Pepco opened its 100th store in Serbia, as the brand strengthens its presence and further capitalises on the strong demand for its products in the country. Elsewhere, the Group’s plans remain on track to launch the Pepco brand in Portugal and Bosnia and Herzegovina later this year.
Pepco’s success in Italy – a country renowned for its style, high-quality garments and luxury goods – demonstrates the strength of the Group’s unique retail format, including its hugely popular apparel and diversified offer which spans c.500 categories at market-leading prices, including women’s, kids’ and men’s clothing, as well as homewares, toys and cosmetics.
The chain also provides limited collections, licensed products and seasonal offers, including the back to school or Christmas collection. Of Pepco’s own-brand clothing and general merchandise, the majority is supplied by its vertically integrated sourcing operation, Pepco Global Sourcing (PGS).
Pepco Group plans to open at least 550 net new stores in FY23, primarily through the Pepco brand, while also expanding the presence of its Dealz brand largely in Poland. This will see the Group continue to create thousands of net new jobs across Europe, while ensuring more customers across Europe have access to its popular and diversified offer.
Trevor Masters, CEO of Pepco Group, said: “The opening of the 100th Pepco store in Italy is a landmark moment for the Group, and demonstrates the success of our expansion in western Europe and the positive response of customers there. Our profitable store rollout programme is going from strength to strength, and with our compelling price proposition and market-leading variety discount offering, we are confident that demand for our products will remain strong.
“We remain absolutely committed to helping customers on a budget by offering great range, value and convenience. Our continued store rollout will ensure that we can bring amazing value products to more and more people.”
