Top Online Partners Group, which owns TopCashback, and Maple Syrup Group, which owns Quidco and Shoop, have reached an agreement that the two very successful British companies will join forces to create a prominent, global group within the money-saving industry.

The deal, which has been voluntarily submitted to the Competition Markets Authority for review, would see a new group form, CB Group Holdings, to provide exciting and significant money-saving opportunities for current and future members across the world.

Should the agreement be approved by the CMA, the existing consumer brands of Quidco, Shoop and TopCashback would remain independent of each other in order to preserve the focus on their own members, as well as safeguard the drive and commitment that has underpinned the growth each business has achieved leading up to this agreement.

By forming the new group and allowing the existing brands within it to remain independent, it will also ensure future innovation and creativity for consumers as well as having a hugely positive effect on the UK and international consumer money-saving industry. The combined group would have a significant footprint outside of the UK with TopCashback and Top Benefit programmes currently live in China, the USA, India, Norway and Ireland, while the Maple Syrup Group operates in Ireland and Poland through its white label business, and Shoop in France and Germany.

About TopCashback:

Established 14 years ago, and with more than seven million members, TopCashback is the UK’s most generous cashback shopping site. It aims to help its members save as much money as possible on their shopping by offering people money back on everything they buy when clicking through the site to over 4,600 brands. Over a year, on average members can earn £325 by doing their shopping, utility switching and renewing insurance policies through the site.

About Quidco:

Quidco is the primary brand of Maple Syrup Group. Quidco believes that buying better contributes to a better life. That’s why it’s Quidco’s mission to help its members get something extra every time they shop, with the average member earning over £300 per year in cashback. Quidco has expanded from its Yorkshire roots to transform the way people shop online, in-store and on mobile in the UK and Europe since it was founded in 2005.

Over a year, on average members can earn £325 by doing all their shopping, utility switching and renewing insurance policies through TopCashback. Alongside TopCashback, Top Online Partners Group also owns a white label business called Top Benefit Schemes which provides loyalty programmes to major UK and European clients from across financial services, retail and employee benefit sectors.

Olly Ragg, Co-Founder and Director at Top Online Partners Group, said: “TopCashback has grown phenomenally from when it first started in 2005, and key to this was our commitment to always ensuring we offer members the best money-saving opportunities possible. Creating a bigger money-saving group with Maple Syrup Group is the next logical step in reaching even more people around the world to help them save as much money as possible. We look forward to hearing back from the CMA, and all being well, continuing our work to revolutionise the global money-saving industry.”

As well as Quidco, Maple Syrup Group owns Shoop, a cashback site operating in France and Germany, and a minority share in CheckoutSmart, a digital loyalty platform for grocery brands. Quidco has expanded rapidly from its Yorkshire roots to transform the way people shop online, in-store and on mobile.

Paul Nikkel, Founder of the Maple Syrup Group, said: “When my wife Jen and I founded Quidco, it revolutionised the money-saving industry and provided users with innovation and member-first product decisions. Over the years we have continued to develop a very wide range of money-saving offers for users along with Top Online Partners Group, so joining forces to create even more money-saving opportunities for our members while bringing our values and concepts to a global audience is an exciting step forward. We want our members to receive the value they deserve on every transaction they make and this helps us achieve that.”

Both companies have always shared a dedication to their respective members. For Quidco this has been in the guise of empowering people to buy better, however they choose to spend their money, while TopCashback has focused on always offering its members the best money-saving deals possible and being the most generous money-saving platform.
