Opening date set for Norwich B&Q-Morrisons store

Norwich shoppers will soon be able to combine their grocery shopping with their DIY demands, following an agreement between B&Q and supermarket Morrisons.

The UK’s leading diy and home improvement company signed a deal with Morrisons earlier this year, which will see the B&Q Neatmarket store converted into a new format B&Q and a full format Morrisons foodstore.

Along with offering an enhanced and more convenient experience for Norwich shoppers, the partnership between the two retail stores will give the local economy a boost by creating up to 300 new local jobs within the Morrisons store.

B&Q store manager Colin Bradford said: “This deal is great news for customers and the local community as our new look store will revitalise our existing format, making it easier for them to shop and improve their retail experience. It will also enable us to continue serving our customers to the highest possible standard, allowing them to make the most of their visit. We will be working closely with Morrisons throughout the entire process and are committed to helping enhance the whole shopping experience on site.”

Morrisons Development Executive, Richard Haynes said: “This is an important milestone for Morrisons as it marks the start of conversion work for our new store. It’s an exciting stage and we will work closely with B&Q, shoppers and the surrounding community to minimise disruption. We now look forward to delivering the store, creating jobs and investing in Norwich.”

The B&Q store will hand over approx. 60,000 sq ft of internal space to Morrisons in September, and will open in its new format on 22 August. In the meantime the existing store is continuing to trade.
