New Wilkinson store to open in Altrincham

Wilkinson, the value home and garden retailer, is set to launch its brand new store, in Altrincham town centre on Thursday, November 24.

The Mayor, Cllr Jane Baugh, will start the celebrations by cutting the ceremonial ribbon at the Stamford Quarter store at 9am. Alongside her will be Julie Gray from the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, a charity that provides holidays and activities for terminally ill, chronically sick, disabled and disadvantaged children.

Wilkinsons’ head of retail, Rob Lassiter, and store manager, Melanie Fothergill, will also be on hand to help kick off the day’s activities.

Shoppers will be treated to a performance by carol singers from the Royal North College of Music, who will provide a festive soundtrack to the day. The Christmas feeling will be continued with a hot chestnut vendor outside of the store, providing complimentary samples to customers.

To raise funds for Age UK, Wilkinsons’ charity of the year, which provides care and support for elderly people in the community, volunteers from the organisation will host an opening day charity raffle. Shoppers will be in with a chance of winning a jam-packed trolley full of products from the new Wilkinsons’ range, which will include luxury home and kitchenwares.

Melanie said: “Opening a new store in Altrincham is an exciting prospect for Wilkinson and the launch day is set to be a fun packed event.

“With our great value, high quality product ranges and our focus on providing excellent customer service, we feel that we have a lot to offer shoppers in the area, especially in the busy run up to Christmas.

“The whole team has worked tirelessly to ensure everything is perfect for opening day. We are looking forward to welcoming customers through the doors and we hope they will enjoy the new shopping experience.”

The celebrations will continue on November 26, when a face painter will be in store between 10am and 4pm, and shoppers will also be treated to delicious free mince pies, which will be handed out in-store. The first lucky 100 shoppers through the tills will also receive a free advent calendar.
