New Wickes Store Unveiled in Sheffield
Home improvement retailer, Wickes, celebrated the opening of its new-look Sheffield North store with a fantastic family fun weekend.
The official opening, on Friday 8th November, was attended by the Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr Gail Smith, as well as the official mascot of Sheffield Wednesday, Barny Owl, who both officially cut the ribbon. In addition, there were face painters, balloons and cupcakes available to keep the whole family entertained as well as exclusive discounts, which ran Friday to Sunday.
Those in-store on Saturday 9th November also had the chance to meet one of the UK’s most famous four-legged mascots, as the Dulux dog was in store for the day.
The new Wickes store features a brand-new kitchen and bathroom showroom as well as expert Design Consultants to provide advice and a free design service to help customers get inspired and plan their dream home. There is also an in-store Dulux colour mixing service, and a wide range of new products, from stylish flooring to gardening items, to help create the perfect space indoors and out.
Lindsay Donnelly, Store Manager at Wickes, Sheffield North comments: “The new layout of the store will make it easier for customers to find everything they need, making shopping for home improvements projects easier than ever. Plus with several room displays for kitchens and bathrooms, and a range of worktops, appliances and tiles on show, shoppers can easily find inspiration for their homes.”
Pye Bank Primary School Project
A group of students from nearby Pye Bank Primary School in Sheffield also attended the opening. These students worked on a project with Wickes and social enterprise VIY (Volunteer It Yourself) to build a potting shed for the school, which all pupils will now be able to use to learn about gardening. Ten students were involved in the project and were helped by volunteers from the store. The Sheffield store also donated all the tools and materials required and covered the cost of professional tradespeople to act as mentors on the ground.
