New John Lewis At Home store to bring 140 jobs to Sussex
A major fashion and home retail chain will bring a huge jobs boost with the opening of an £8 million store.
John Lewis is opening a branch in Chichester creating 140 jobs.
The firm is looking to adapt the former 40,000sq ft, two-storey MFI store in Portfield Way, Chichester, to become its 38th store in Britain.
The company will submit a planning application to expand on-site parking at the store.
Work will begin on modifying the exterior and interior of the building in January. The redevelopment is expected to take up to four months to complete.
It is hoped the store will open in the spring.
It will be a John Lewis at home concept store, one of ten set to open nationwide by the end of 2012.
The store will bring 140 sales jobs to the area and the firm hopes to recruit around half of the management roles from the local area.
