New board member for The Garden Centre Group
The Garden Centre Group has appointed departing Odeon and UCI Cinemas chief executive Rupert Gavin as a non-executive director and board member.
Gavin formerly ran BBC Worldwide as well as having senior roles at BT and Dixons.
The cinemas are owned by 139-centre TGCG owner Terra Firma.
Gavin leaves on February 17 after Terra Firma failed to attract a buyer for the cinemas at the price quoted. He was chief executive for eight years and will continue to advise Terra Firma, take several board roles, as well as spending more time on his own Incidental Colman theatre and entertainment group.
TGCG chairman Stephen Murphy said: "Rupert will greatly assist TGCG in achieving its goal of increasing customer visits by enriching shopping experience and making our centres exciting destinations to visit."
