Morrisons shows interest in Focus stores
MORRISONS might buy some Focus DIY stores after the struggling chain went bust, bosses revealed yesterday.
Debt-laden Focus has plunged into administration, raising fears for nearly 4,000 workers.
Morrisons’ finance chief, Richard Pennycook, said it could step-in to snap-up some of its 178 stores.
He told Your Money: “This is another in a sequence of potential prospects that we look at all the time.”
The move came as Morrisons announced a better than expected 2.5% rise in sales on the 13 weeks to May, helped by a weather and royal wedding boost.
