Morrisons converting outdoor space into garden centres
Morrisons has converted 30 outdoor areas into year-round garden centres and could build almost 100 more this spring.
External walkways are to be used as garden centre areas.
A typical example is Morrisons at Lakeside retail park at Ashby Ville, Scunthorpe, which is seeking planning permission to change the use of an external walkway to a garden centre.
The sales area is near the main entrance and the supermarket chain has applied to put up five signs.
As many as 122 Morrisons could have outside areas converted with covers on walkways.
A representative confirmed that the areas will be open year-round on paving next to the stores.
