MKM Opens New Derby Branch

Derby MKM opening day
  • New MKM Derby branch aiming to be the ‘pride of the park’ after official opening

MKM Derby opened its doors on 13th September, with help from Derby County Football Club legend Roger Davies.

There was a special launch event in branch where customers had the chance to bag themselves one of 10 signed shirts from the ex-Derby striker, as well as pick up free merchandise and a complimentary breakfast.  Visitors also took part in a challenge on the store’s permanent putting green, where they had the chance to win a £250 MKM voucher.

The well-attended event highlighted MKM Derby’s hole-in-one offering to local builders, contractors, landscapers, heating and plumbing installers and the general public for all their building and DIY needs.

The branch, which is conveniently located on a 1.5-acre site on Pride Park, has created 16 new jobs in the local community, with more expected once the branch is further established.  Headed up by experienced industry professionals Giles Butler and Danny Neill, who both have extensive knowledge in the building and construction sector, it combines MKM’s unbeatable product range with a state-of-the-art kitchen and bathroom showroom, providing a one-stop-shop for all building and DIY related products and home renovations, all under one roof.

Giles Butler, Branch Director at MKM Derby, said: “We’re delighted to finally open after all the hard work that has gone into preparing this branch, and it’s incredibly rewarding to have had such a great footfall on our opening day.

“Our goal at MKM Derby is to provide tradespeople, DIY enthusiasts and homeowners across Derbyshire with quality products at competitive prices, but with a genuine and friendly customer service experience that sets us apart from anyone else. Everyone should be a friend of the branch in our eyes, so we’re committed to taking our service offering to a level that customers wouldn’t have experienced before in this area.”

“We want to play a big role in our local community and that is why we have made a donation to the Derby County Community Trust that provides opportunities and experiences that improve the lives of local people,” explains Danny Neill, MKM Derby’s Branch Director. “Plus, it’s always nice to befriend your new neighbours, and with Pride Park literally across the road, it’s fitting we can help the club’s cause.”

MKM Derby’s opening was incredibly well received with scores of tradespeople and the general public utilising the new branch and taking the chance to meet ex-footballer Roger Davies, who commented: “What a fantastic facility MKM Derby is. Perfect for builders or homeowners who want to come and buy for a project. I’ve even seen stuff inside that I need for a project I’m working on, so will be going in to get that shortly. This place seems to have everything you could need, it looks like a really great facility, conveniently located, easy to get to, I think it is going to be a great plus for the city.”

Kate Tinsley, CEO of MKM Building Supplies, added: “Our MKM Derby opening has been a huge success and we’re proud to offer the community a first-class solution to all their building and DIY needs alongside a service that goes the extra mile. This opening further highlights our desire to continue growing the UK’s largest independent builders merchant network, supported by the local knowledge and experience from each of our trusted branch directors.”
