MKM Invests In Water Recycling Wash Bays

MKM, the UK’s leading independent builder’s merchant, has installed water saving closed loop wash bays at all branches offering the new MKM Hire service.  

MKM has taken steps in sustainability by installing water recycling wash bays at all 13 of the branches offering plant and tool hire by June of this year. It will roll out further wash bays in the coming months as the Hire offering is extended to more branches nationwide. 

When looking at maintenance options for its fleet of plant equipment available for hire to customers, MKM chose to invest in ODS’s EWB2 modular closed loop, three-stage system, which reduces water usage and can be adapted for use on a variety of equipment. 

In addition to the closed loop system, which recycles water, preventing wastage, the EWB2 uses ultraviolet light to kill off any bacteria that may be present in the recycled water. This removes the use of chlorine from the process, which is better for the people using the equipment, as well as the environment.
