Lidl Trials Parkside DIY Stores In Hungary And Poland

Retail Detail EU reports that Lidl has opened two stores from which to sell its successful private label Parkside range of DIY goods.

Two trial stores have opened, one in Biatorbágy, a town near Budapest in Hungary, the other in the city of Bytom, in the south of Poland. The Polish store is 100 square metres in size and sells the entire Parkside range of tools, gardening equipment and accessories, which include:

• Electric tools and machines
• Hand tools
• Workshop fittings
• Work clothing and workplace protection
• Heating and air conditioning 
• Bathroom and plumbing
• Painting equipment
• Flooring and accessories

Lidl confirmed it will continue to sell Parkside goods in its supermarkets.  

The Hungarian opening was heralded a success by local press, noting that long queues formed outside the store on its opening day on 11th July. 

Euromonitor International has recognised Parkside as the best-selling DIY brand in Europe. Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger became a brand ambassador for the range in August 2023, staring in TV and social media videos. 

Commenting on the partnership, the actor said: “‘You got this’ – that’s exactly my attitude. You have to believe in yourself, that’s why I’m a PARKSIDER.”

Lidl has previously opened pop-up stores for its private baby product range, Lupilu.
