Lakeland launches new website

Lakeland, the creative kitchenware retailer, has launched a new ecommerce website to support the growth of its multi-channel retail business.

The new site features recommendation tools to support customers as if they were consulting an expert sales associate in the store as well as a number of other innovative functions including personalisation, multivariate testing, recommendations and active merchandising.

Lakeland commissioned Leeds based digital agency AWA to design and build the front end of the site. An important part of the brief was to create an experience that simplified the online buying process and helped customers shop online with the same ease they would encounter in a Lakeland store. During the build process, the site was subjected to several rounds of user testing as Lakeland was keen to ensure that customer feedback was used to guide each stage of the development.

Implementation and integration on the hybris ecommerce platform was carried out by ecommerce consultancy and systems integrator Javelin Group.

Tony Preedy, marketing director of Lakeland said: “We are extremely proud of our new website. We were determined that our new platform would enable us to give our customers the very best levels of service, and to enable us to present our innovative range of products in the best possible light.”

AWA Managing Director, Christina Marks added: “This has been a fantastic project and one which we’re all very proud of. Working closely with the Lakeland and Javelin teams, we’ve been able to further bring the Lakeland brand to life online, allow ultimate flexibility for merchandising and content and create a front-end build that forms a genuine foundation for future exciting technologies and development.”
