Kingfisher update on new store openings in Russia
In August, Castorama Russia opened two new stores – one in the Rodnik shopping mall in Chelyabinsk on the 6th August and one in Schelkovo on the 13th.
The Rodnik shopping mall is one of the biggest shopping centres in Chelyabinsk and Castorama Russia is the first international DIY retailer to enter the city, which is one of the major industrial centres of Russia in the Ural Mountains. The city has a population of over 1 million.
The store has a selling space of 9,950 square metres offering its customers a wide range of products for the home and garden, including materials for construction, flooring and tiles, lighting and plumbing solutions and bathrooms, as well as decorative ranges.
The Schelkovo store is the first Castorama Russia store in the Moscow region that is fully owned by Castorama. Schelkovo is an important suburb of Moscow, with a population of over 100,000. With the opening of the Castorama Schelkovo store residents will no longer need to travel out of town to find high quality products at low prices for their home and garden improvements.
The new store offers a full range of 35,000 products for the home and garden in 9,700 square metres of selling space.
On the 12th September Kingfisher announced plans to invest £115 million opening nine new Castorama stores in Russia over the next two years
