JYSK, the Danish retailer operating globally, has opened its 23rd store in the UK today [8th July], with doors opening to the public for the first time at its brand new 1200m2 site in Stockport, Greater Manchester. Situated in Manchester Road Retail Park, Stockport joins Oldham, Bolton and the recently opened store in Bury to provide high-quality, affordable furniture and homeware goods to the Greater Manchester region.
“We are incredibly excited to bring the JYSK brand to Stockport”, says Store Manager at the new Stockport store, Mark Armitage. “JYSK’s affordable Scandi-style furniture and homeware along with its extensive range of sleeping products created by experts is becoming infamous in the Greater Manchester area – we’re calling it the ‘JYSK fever’! Stockport is also the home of JYSK’s UK Headquarters so this store opening feels even more special. It’s a big moment that signifies how much the JYSK brand has grown.”
JYSK is not only investing in growing its store presence in the area but also in supporting local causes. The new Stockport store also marks the start of a partnership with the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity in order to help address the issue of rough sleeping and homelessness across the city region. Using contactless donation points in-store, customers can opt to make a small donation when paying for their JYSK items to pledge support towards the cause. The partnership will run across all four stores in the Greater Manchester region: Stockport, Oldham, Bolton and Bury.
JYSK’s Sales and Marketing Manager, UK and Ireland, Jenny Johnston says: “Everyone deserves the right to a home. As a homeware retailer, we and our customers truly understand and value the gratification and comfort that comes with being able to transform our houses into homes. Enormous headway has been made so far in helping to reduce the numbers of those sleeping rough within the city and its suburbs. We are delighted to be able to support the organisation in its efforts to do more to address the issue and enable more people to transition safely to secure accommodation”.
Vanessa Haworth, Head of Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity adds, “We are thrilled to see our contactless donation points in JYSK stores across Greater Manchester. Working with an international brand like JYSK, and one which values the importance of home so closely, is exciting for us as a charity. JYSK and its customers could really have a substantial impact on helping us to prevent homelessness in Greater Manchester with donations helping to provide the foundations for a better future for many.”
In celebration of the new store opening, JYSK will have a selection of store-exclusive offers for local Stockport shoppers including 50% off the popular ULLEHUSE garden lounge set, 40% on the MARKSKEL wardrobe, 70% on the WELLPUR Gold F130 foam mattress and many more great savings throughout the store, while stocks last.
