John Lewis of Hungerford expects sales to reach £7.4m
John Lewis of Hungerford said it expects its full-year sales to reach £7.4m, up from £6.6m reported in 2013.
In a pre-close trading update for the year ending 31st August, the kitchen, bathroom and furniture company said it had had a 'positive underlying trading performance', together with contributions from its new Chiswick showroom and bedroom range. Like-for-like installed kitchen sales are up 6%.
The company, which is expected to release its full-year results in late December, said a 'positive trading momentum has continued into the current financial year', contributed to by new store openings. Forward orders and despatched sales in the first quarter reached £2m, compared with £1.7m in Q1 2013.
It said the growth was 'encouraging', but added that it would 'continue to caution against extrapolating current trading patterns due to the high discretionary spend nature of our business and the strong correlation to wider levels of consumer confidence'.
