John Lewis Clearance off to a strong start online
John Lewis Clearance has got off to a strong start since it launched online on Christmas Eve at 5pm. In its first full hour (5pm - 6pm), John Lewis saw a 17.7% increase in orders compared to last year.
Clearance shopping on Christmas Day continued, with website orders up 10.7% year-on-year. Traffic to johnlewis.com was up 11% compared to last year, with 75% of traffic coming from mobile devices throughout Christmas Day as customers chose to browse on smart phones and tablets.
Similarly to last year, website traffic dipped slightly between 2pm and 4pm on Christmas Day as people sat down to enjoy their Christmas lunch but sales soon picked up again and peaked between 9pm and 10pm.
John Lewis customers took full advantage of Clearance deals across the fashion, home and technology departments. Since launch, some of the best selling items include:

Mark Felix, director for online trade at John Lewis said: “We’re delighted to see a strong start to this year’s Clearance online. Customers were quick to find great deals this year with the Apple Watch, KitchenAid stand mixer and Molton Brown gift sets some of our most popular purchases. We also sold one LEGO Minifigures set every two seconds during the first hour of Clearance.
“We expect customers will continue to log on throughout today to take advantage of the hundreds of offers we have available. All 46 of our shops are open again tomorrow and we expect to see plenty of customers visiting John Lewis branches to shop.”
