Ingka Opens City Stores In Toronto And San Francisco

IKEA Toronto City store

Ingka Group, the largest IKEA retailer, today opens the first IKEA city store in San Francisco and its second in Toronto as part of its push across North America to get closer to customers.

Both city stores are created and adapted to meet local customers’ needs and offer them the inspiring IKEA experience in an accessible and affordable way. Easily reachable by public transport, the stores have around 2,500 products available for immediate takeaway and offer the full range to order with convenient delivery options.

The new San Francisco store is part of an Ingka Centres meeting place that is due to open in 2024. In addition to the new store, it will host the flexible co-working space Hej!Workshop as well as an innovative food court concept, Saluhall.

In Canada, the biggest IKEA retailer has been investing substantially in both the in-person and digital experience and improved fulfilment. The new store is located in Toronto’s Scarborough, and it will complement the first city store opened in 2022 as well as the four full-size stores in the Greater Toronto area.

“This has been a fantastic month for our expansion worldwide – after Copenhagen, we can now offer our home furnishing solutions in downtown San Francisco as well as another central location in Toronto. We want to make sure that we become even more convenient physically and digitally for our customers and this will remain our focus going forward” – Tolga Öncü, Head of IKEA Retail, Ingka Group.
