IKEA's Birmingham Order and Collection Point to open next week

Home furnishing company IKEA today announced that it will open the doors of its new IKEA Birmingham Central Order and Collection point at Dale End in Birmingham Centre, from 18th August 2016.

IKEA Birmingham Central Order and Collection Point will be the third of its kind to open in the UK. Located centrally, the new format unit has been designed to bring the IKEA home furnishing range and expertise closer to more customers. The new Order and Collection Point will support customers’ shopping experience by providing a new way to shop with IKEA and offer convenient access to the IKEA product range and inspiration right in the heart of Birmingham Centre close to several public transport links.

Acting primarily as a planning studio to plan complex purchases such as kitchens, bedrooms and Living rooms, IKEA Birmingham Central Order and Collection Point will also feature the much-loved IKEA room sets providing inspiration and ideas for the home, as well as expert co-workers offering home furnishing knowledge and advice.

The new Order and Collection Point is considerably smaller than a traditional IKEA store and due to its size it will not carry the full product range to take home on the day however customers will be able to order from the IKEA online range for home delivery or for collection at the point. In addition a small range of the ‘markethall’ items will be available for customers to take home on the day of their visit. These items will be changed throughout the year to provide a number of seasonality relevant products.

Last but not least, upon a visit to IKEA Birmingham Central Order and Collection Point, customers will have the opportunity to enjoy some speiality street food at the Bistro and can even take-home selected Swedish Food Market products, including frozen meatballs.

IKEA Birmingham Order and Collection Point Manager, Dawn Lloyd, said: “We are delighted to be bringing this unique version of IKEA to Birmingham Centre. It is a fantastic opportunity for existing and new customers to conveniently engage with our brand and discover inspiring room sets and home furnishing solutions.

I am very proud to say that we have recruited a team of 30 multi-skilled and passionate co-workers from the local area who together with myself look forward to welcoming customers from the West Midlands to our new Order and Collection Point once it opens.”

IKEA Order and Collection Development Manager, Jack Jackson said: “We are very excited to be opening IKEA Birmingham Central Order and Collection Point. With the new format we will be able to bring the IKEA product range and experience to Birmingham more quickly and conveniently than ever before.”

As part of its expansion plans to make IKEA more accessible to many more people, the company will be testing a number of similar Order and Collection Points across the UK. IKEA Birmingham Central Order and Collection point is the first to be opened in a city Centre location and it is the third unit to open in the UK following IKEA Norwich Order and Collection Point and IKEA Aberdeen Order and Collection Point.
