IKEA Uses Self-Service Kiosks To Help Customers Choose Mattresses

IKEA kiosk sleep

IKEA offers a wide range of sleeping essentials to ensure customers get a good night’s sleep that everyone can afford. However, picking the perfect bed combination is sometimes more difficult than expected. Luckily, IKEA has just made it easier for customers to find the perfect sleep combination through the comfort guide in all their in-store self-service kiosks called Upptäcka!

Upptäcka offers IKEA customers more options to be self-sufficient in their stores. The kiosks are contextually relevant, meaning that they support customers based on their location in the store. Customers can search for products, create shopping lists, plan various product combinations and seamlessly transition the information from the kiosk to personal devices and the IKEA app. There are approximately 35 Upptäcka kiosks available in every IKEA store around the world to help with every step of the customer journey.

According to IKEA, finding the perfect sleep combination is a matter of answering three important questions:

1. How do you sleep? Your sleeping position determines which mattress suits you best.

2. What is your body shape? Your body shape determines which mattress suits you best.

3. What is your weight? Your body weight determines which mattress suits you best.

The Upptäcka kiosk will provide a wide variety of sleep combinations to suit any sleeping style and price-point. In addition, IKEA is proud of its 10-year mattress guarantee (the 90-day “Sleep on it” Mattress exchange), which covers mattresses and bed bases labelled with their logo against any material or assembly defects.

According to Parag Parekh, CDO of IKEA Retail (Ingka Group), “in a year when we focus on enabling our customers to improve sleep, we wanted to offer them even more convenience in finding that perfect mix of products that suits those needs. We keep hearing from our store visitors that the new kiosks are making their shopping experience more pleasant and allowing them to find the right information faster, which is what we were hoping to achieve.”

He adds, “The kiosks are part of our journey to improve the customer experience with the use of self-service kiosks, innovatively designed to enhance shopping across all IKEA stores.”
