IKEA Understood To Be Planning To Open Stores In Two Weeks
IKEA is understood to be planning to reopen its UK stores in mid-May, according to an article by the Daily Mail.
The Mail reported that all 22 UK branches are expected to open on 18th May, having been closed since 6pm on Friday 20th March.
A source told The Mail: "The objective is to open from May 18 though there is anxiety about how it can be managed.
"There needs to be extensive cleaning throughout the day - hygiene is paramount - and we need to be 100 per cent certain we can clean systematically throughout the day."
In a statement issued on the 19th March, Peter Jelkeby, Country Retail Manager and Chief Sustainability Officer, said: “These are extraordinary times, and our absolute priority is to ensure the health and safety of our customers and co-workers. We have listened carefully to them, to the advice of the UK and Ireland governments, and have been closely monitoring the situation as this evolves. This is the right decision for us to take at this point. We look forward to welcoming our customers back to our stores in the future.”
