IKEA to submit Exeter store plans within weeks
IKEA has confirmed that it will shortly submit final applications for its planned new Exeter store, which will be the retailer’s second store in the south west, along with Bristol.
It is expected that the Exeter branch will be built close to the M5, around two minutes’ drive from junction 30, on the A379, between Sandy Park and Newcourt Way.
In January 2014, Exeter City Council made a recommendation to grant outline planning consent for a new IKEA store and up to 220 new homes on land adjacent to the A379 and Newcourt Way in Exeter, Devon.
A spokesperson for IKEA said: "We are happy to confirm we are pushing ahead with all the remaining applications needed to construct the IKEA store.
"The applications will be submitted to Exeter City Council in next few weeks, starting with the ground works and followed by the detailed design of the building."
