IKEA To Launch Updated App
IKEA is understood to be launching a new app, initially in France and the Netherlands, to help consumers visualise its products within their homes.
The name has not been revealed but is expected to be launched in the retailer's top eight regions by the end of the year.
The existing IKEA app allows customers to browse and search the IKEA range and add products to a shopping list. Those looking to visit IKEA can find the nearest store based on their location and check opening hours and directions, as well as checking to see if products are in stock. Customers can see where products are located in-store and scan barcodes and QR codes on products to get additional information, as well as using the app as a digital IKEA Family card.
The new app will have a new design, new content and will offer product recommendations and product reviews. One of the new features will enable users to add their room dimensions and select products to fill the space, then allow them to purchase items from within the app.
Barbara Martin Coppola, chief digital officer at IKEA, told Reuters: "It is a completely new experience,” adding, “The app is combined with the store experience, with the online experience.”
An spokeperson for IKEA said: “We want to contribute to a better everyday life for the many people by introducing a new app which allows people to shop from the comfort of their own home.
“The app comes as a series of moves that look to strengthen IKEA’s position to become more accessible, affordable and sustainable for customers.”
