IKEA to launch augmented reality app
Ikea is to launch a special augmented reality-powered mobile catalogue this month, letting you virtually trial furniture in your living room.
The app will place products around your home and allow you to view how they will look from your smartphone screen.
Available for both iOS and Android, Ikea's 2014 catalogue app has more than 90 different products which can be virtually placed about your house, so you can see how they look before you buy them.
The app uses the real-life Ikea catalogue to work out the scale of furniture, so that all you need to do is place it on the floor.
Products capable of the AR treatment range from sofas to chairs and beds.
Ikea also used technology innovatively last year with the launch of the Uppleva, a system which features integrated Hi-Fi and TV in one piece of furniture.
