IKEA To Close Bromley Planning Studio
IKEA has confirmed its intention to close its Bromley Planning Studio in south-east London.
The store opened its doors in March 2019 as part of an approach to enable customers to experience IKEA's personalised kitchen and bedroom planning service without having to visit a large out-of-town store.
IKEA said that the store closure is not linked to the coronavirus pandemic and relates solely to the location of the store, rather than the format. An IKEA spokesperson said that Bromley remains of interest to IKEA but the town "favours impulse buys and is less suitable for those shopping for bigger purchases, like kitchens".
The Tottenham Court Road Planning Studio is understood to be trading well and is not affected by the closure.
Fifteen members of staff are understood to be affected.
Gary Pearce, Market Manager IKEA UK and Ireland said: “We are incredibly thankful to the co-workers at IKEA Bromley who have contributed enormously over the last year, and our hope is that as many as possible will continue their career journey with us.
“We also feel privileged to have been part of the community and we deeply appreciate the support we have received from our customers, who we remain committed to serving in the best possible way. We hope to welcome them again soon, either at a nearby store, online or via our click and collect services.”
