Hornbach announces 8.3% increase in sales
The German DIY operator Hornbach made an increase in turnover of 8.3 per cent to € 1.8549 bn in the first half of the financial year 2014/15 (1 March to 31 August 2014). After opening five new stores and closing two in the first half year, the company now operates 144 branches, 95 of which are in Germany.
The like for like and currency adjusted DIY sales rose by 6.7 per cent in the nine European countries of the Hornbach branch network in the first half year 2014/15.
In the second quarter (1 June to 31 August 2014) the Hornbach stores achieved a plus of 0.5 per cent to € 878.3 mio. The like for like and currency adjusted DIY sales remained 1.0 per cent behind the comparative value for the same period last year.
In Germany the sales increased by 9.9 per cent in the first half year, adjusted by 8.9 per cent and abroad the growth was 6.2 per cent, like for like and currency adjusted by 3.6 per cent.
