Hoppy Launches Home Management Site to Simplify Home and DIY Tasks

Hoppy website 725 x 500

Hoppy, the new home management site, brings a new ‘one stop shop’ concept to the U.K. market with its launch this week, aiming to simplify running a home.

According to research commissioned by Hoppy, Brits spend on average 10[i] hours a week on household tasks and 68 per cent have up to 20 DIY tasks to complete in their home. It is no surprise then, that juggling managing a household – and all the admin and maintenance that brings – is causing 40 per cent of Brits to be stressed.

The Hoppy site aims to solve this - saving consumers time and money by bringing a range of home-related services and digital tools under one roof for the very first time. The site encompasses switching services, a tradesperson booking portal, an online community and a home management digital logbook to take the hassle out of running a home.

Founded as an independent company in 2018, Hoppy was created in Blue Lab, EDF Energy’s innovation accelerator, to meet customer demand for a comprehensive home management tool. Following a successful test period and positive customer response, Hoppy is being launched nationwide.

Hoppy’s Managing Partner Richard Longmore explains; “Hoppy originated in response to consumers looking for digital services to make their lives easier – in particular, to better manage their homes. We saw a gap in the market for a platform that brings a number of home-related services together. Customers and service are at the core of the business; Hoppy aims to make running households easy and efficient, simplifying the lives of our customers by taking care of the household bills and general home maintenance that often become a chore.”

Working with trusted and accredited service providers across the industry, Hoppy enables consumers to easily switch utilities by providing access to the widest range of the cheapest utility, broadband/tv and mobile deals in the country – saving consumers up to £537 per year[ii] on utilities and up to £325 a year[iii] respectively on broadband/tv and mobile deals.

The site also includes a tradesperson booking portal to provide access to over 1,800 nationwide trusted and vetted tradespeople to help out with any job around the home. The Hoppy team have also developed a community area of the site to provide access to other homeowners and renters who can offer advice and tips on everyday niggles and issues in the home. Users will receive notifications when someone has responded to their question.

Research also revealed that household finance and admin can be a time drain, taking Brits on average over an hour a week to deal with – not to mention all the paperwork which can become overwhelming. To tackle this, Hoppy cleverly keeps track of household to-do lists with a digital logbook allowing users to set up reminders and notifications to pay bills or renegotiate a contract. Users can also create online secure cloud storage for important household documents to help tackle the pile of mounting paperwork in the home.

Longmore adds, “We are really excited to unveil Hoppy. Life is stressful enough without having to also worry about all the mounting jobs to do around the home. We hope the site will help simplify household tasks and admin – giving people back more of their valued leisure time.”
