Homebase website beats B&Q & Wickes in Sitemorse survey
Sitemorse has released its latest quarterly assessment of the top performing UK retail websites.
The testing of the 500 sites is undertaken by Sitemorse using automated software that checks the first 125 pages of a retailer’s website to analyses on the basis of six key criteria: Function, Code Quality, User Experience, Accessibility, Performance and SEO capability.
Here are the positions of a selection of DIY, home improvement, garden and general merchandise retailers that feature in the list:

Dobbies Garden Centres - 144
DIY Kitchens UK – 147
Topps Tiles – 157
Next - 198
Robert Dyas - 215
Plumb Center Online - 255
Bathstore.com - 280
Asda - 313
Homebase – 322
Screwfix - 335

Ebay - 380
B&Q – 389
Carpetright – 420
Wilkinson Plus - 437
Wickes - 441
Furniture retailer DFS scored highest in the survey, while online computing retailer Misco.co.uk was the lowest. Topps Tiles and Next were amongst the highest climbers from the previous quarter’s survey, gaining 262 and 237 places respectively.
Incidentally several retailers including Poundstretcher, The Range and J Sainsbury were excluded from the final index because of their reliance on JavaScript.
