Homebase staff planting 4,000 trees in support of the Marston Vale Trust and National Tree Week

The Marketing team at leading home enhancement retailer Homebase will be putting on their wellies and getting their hands dirty, this Thursday, 8th December, as they set out to plant 4,000 trees in the Forest of Marston Vale.

In light of National Tree Week, the UK’s largest tree celebration launching the start of the winter tree planting season, 100 colleagues from Avebury Boulevard based Home Retail Group, will help plant 13 hectares of accessible community woodland at Top Farm, Lidlington, using native trees and shrubs. This is part of a wider project by the Marston Vale Trust to plant over 25,000 trees and shrubs to create the latest new woodland in the Forest of Marston Vale.

Hannah Braithwaite, Fundraiser for the Marston Vale Trust, said: "The Forest Team is thrilled to be organising a tree planting event for the Marketing team at Homebase. It's great to see that such a large number of them are participating and that they are eager to get started! On the day we will manage to plant thousands of trees which will contribute towards the ongoing creation of the Forest of Marston Vale."

On the day teams will be competing to win the award for the most planted trees and there will be an individual prize awarded for the best dressed wellies.

Ceri Wootton, Community Affairs & Workplace Manager, said: "We're really pleased to be able to support a local cause through our volunteering scheme. Colleagues at Home Retail Group are encouraged to spend two days a year making a difference volunteering in their community, we think it is fantastic when teams get together to really make a difference."

If you are a local organisation looking for volunteers to lend a hand in 2012 please contact Ceri Wootton, Community Affairs & Workplace Manager - ceri.wootton@homeretailgroup.com or call 01908 296153.

Thank you for the excellent presentation that you gave at Woodbury Park on Thursday morning. It was very interesting and thought-provoking for our Retail members. The feedback has been excellent.
