Homebase puts staff at 21 stores into consultation

News emerged late last week that Homebase has put the store staff at 21 stores into consultation. At the recent Half Year Results Presentation (see link below) Home Retail Group announced a 'Productivity Plan' including the closure of 25% (80+) of their current store portfolio of 323 stores over the next 3 years. However, the decision to close 21 stores almost immediately will come as a shock to everyone in the industry.

Although the identity of the stores has been confirmed to the Insight DIY news office, due to the fact that staff and stores are currently going through a consultation process, we will not list the specific stores in question. However, we do understand that the closure affects a mixture of original Homebase, ex-Focus and even one of the very latest Homebase investment stores.

This news emerged following meetings held with store staff on Wednesday 5th November 2014.
