Homebase opens at Hexham's new retail park
THE first business in Hexham’s new £8m retail park opened this week.
National DIY chain Homebase welcomed Tynedale customers yesterday as it completed its move into the Tyne Valley Retail Park, located next to the town’s railway station.
After much anticipation about the development at the former goods yard, the chain has created 25 full and part-time jobs for local people.
Homebase will be followed by Pets at Home which has announced that it will open its £350,000 store on Friday, May 2, bringing six new jobs.
Area manager Andrea Bruce said: “There was a strong demand from Hexham pet owners for Pets at Home to come to town, and we’re very pleased to have been able to grant them their wish.”
Meanwhile, Majestic Wines will also be moving into the town but has not confirmed its opening date.
As part of the project, a new car park consisting of 149 spaces, including nine disabled bays, has been created.
