Homebase, one of the UK's leading home improvement and garden retailers, launched its Christmas campaign entitled ‘Let the Festivities Begin’ which saw it return to TV screens with its ‘Monster Fairy’ advert – it’s first Christmas TV spot since 2015.

The 30-second film captures the moment when a mother receives her own ‘Monster Fairy’ tree decoration from her daughter, just as she is putting the final touches to a tastefully decorated living room and stunning Christmas tree, all taken from the new Homebase product range of furniture, home furnishings and Christmas decorations.

Lisa Tickle, Head of Marketing at Homebase, said: “We are delighted to be able to showcase our new Christmas range with a humorous and emotional advert that will resonate with parents and grandparents alike. Whilst we all want our homes to be beautifully styled at Christmas, the reality is the entire household feature in the final festive look, which may include homemade ‘masterpieces’ of varying standards, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!”

Dave Henderson and Guy Bradbury, Creative Partners at Atomic London, added: “We’re all hugely excited to see Homebase back on our TV screens with a really human approach to its communications.”

‘Monster Fairy’ premiered on ITV at 17:30 on Monday 18 November and air throughout the lead up to Christmas during shows including I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and Coronation Street.

The ‘Let the Festivities Begin’ Homebase Christmas campaign includes a cohesive digital, PR and social programme, managed by Havas and M&C Saatchi Public Relations, and continues the retailer’s shift towards a more emotionally led brand strategy under the new tagline ‘Feels Good to be Home’.
