Homebase appoints two former B&Q directors to help with turnaround

Homebase Hemel new

Homebase has recruited two new directors, both with B&Q backgrounds, to help with its turnaround plan.

Grant Anderson has been appointed to the role of Operations Director and Dave Elliott has been appointed to the position of Commercial Director.

Grant Anderson worked as a divisional director at B&Q for over thirty years, alongside Homebase CEO and former B&Q-lifer, Damian McGloughlin.  He left earlier this year and will return to the business later this month.

Dave Elliott returns to Homebase after a two-year absence, during which he worked at a retail consultancy.  He joined Homebase in 2012 having worked for B&Q for eight years prior.

Earlier this week, Homebase announced that it is to launch a Company Voluntary Agreement (CVA) and is seeking approval from creditors on a proposed plan to reduce its cost base in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Damian McGloughlin, CEO of Homebase, said: “Launching a CVA has been a difficult decision and one that we have not taken lightly. Homebase has been one of the most recognisable retail brands for almost 40 years, but the reality is we need to continue to take decisive action to address the underperformance of the business and deal with the burden of our cost base, as well as to protect thousands of jobs. The CVA is therefore an essential measure for the business to take and will enable us to refocus our operations and rebuild our offer for the years ahead.”
