Home Hardware 'Meet the Buyer' day confirmed for 17th October 2017
The British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA) is working with the Garden Industry Manufacturers’ Association (GIMA) to host another in the successful series of Meet The Buyer days with Home Hardware, the UK’s largest retailer-owned organisation. The event will take place on Tuesday 17th October at a hotel in or near to Barnstaple.
Home Hardware is the largest organisation of its kind in the UK and has over 450 retail members including independent hardware retailers, homewares shops, cook shops, ironmongers and garden centres. It has a central buying function with its head office based in North Devon, four business development managers and it operates out of two warehouses located in Barnstaple and Bedford. Members are supported via a series of initiatives, including six seasonal promotional leaflets, catalogues, trade shows.
Home Hardware is looking for suppliers of products to feature in its key 2018 Home and Garden Brochure and Summer Leisure Brochure, which will be distributed to over 1.2 million homes during 2018. The objective is for the catalogue to feature new and innovative products offering outstanding value.
Chosen lines will, subject to performance over the promotional period, also be stocked ongoing in both Home Hardware warehouses and could therefore form part of the core product offering to its 450-plus members. This initiative also offers suppliers the opportunity to support and target new independent retail channels as well as reinforcing commitment to existing independent distribution.
Participants will be allocated a 20-minute appointment time with the most relevant of the five buyers attending. The Home Hardware team will be headed up on the day by Jim Chadwick. A maximum of two people from each supplier company will be allowed and suppliers are urged to use the time available to concentrate on the features and benefits of the products they are offering, supported by cost price proposals.
BHETA’s home enhancement sector director, Will Jones commented, “This is a unique opportunity for new and existing Home Hardware suppliers and as such, is sure to attract a big response. There will be a limit to the number of people that can be accommodated on the day. Interested suppliers are therefore urged to indicate on the Product Category Form, by return, which product category or categories are of interest, no later than September 22nd. We can then make the arrangements and confirm well in advance of the day.”
Director at GIMA, Vicky Nuttall added, “The chance to feature in Home Hardware’s key brochures for next season is really exciting, so I urge all interested suppliers to visit their local Home Hardware store in preparation for the day.”
