Home Bargains signs 15-year lease in Rotherham town centre
Fast-growing discount retailer, Home Bargains is to open an outlet in Rotherham town centre. Norseman Estates Ltd, the owners of Rotherham Interchange, were represented by Savills in the deal that will see Home Bargains take the 150,000 sq ft unit that is currently occupied by fashion retailer, Internacionale.
TJ Morris, the Merseyside company that operates Home Bargains, was represented by Bennett and they have taken a 15-year lease, paying £130,000 per annum.
With more than 250 stores across the UK and over two and a half million customers per week, Home Bargains is one of the country's best-loved discount retailers. They are bucking the trend with plans to open 50 new stores across the UK in the next twelve months.
With Ladbrokes taking a new 10-year lease on a unit totalling 1,154 sq ft, the retail units in the bus station are now 100% let.
Steve Henderson, associate director at Savills, said: "Following these lettings College Walk is now 100% let and this is the story for much of Rotherham with only three units currently available on the retail core of Effingham Street, Howard Street, College Street, Fredrick Street and Bridgegate. This time last year there were over 11 shops available on these streets.
"The success of Rotherham is largely due to the flexibility of landlords who have taken a pragmatic approach to rents and a dedicated local catchment whose commitment to shopping in the town continues to drive footfall up."
Other recent lettings in the town include the Sandwich & Coffee Company opening on Main Street to cater for council workers moving into their new offices and a new beauty treatment centre in the basement of Peter Bird hairdressers.
