TJ Morris, the owner of discounter Home Bargains, has agreed to lease part of a former Homebase store in Bedford.

Home Bargains will occupy the 14,500sq ft store on St John's Retail Park site on a 15-year term, at a cost of £190k per year.

The retailer will join fellow discounter, Lidl, which has already signed up to take on the other 21,630 sq ft of the former Homebase store on a 15-year lease, at £335k per annum.

The Home Bargains letting is subject to planning consent as well as the completion of unit refurbishment and car park improvements by the site owner - Schroeder Real Estate Investment Trust - which is expected to cost in the region of £3.7m.
