Grafton Group to Invest 500,000 in Chadwicks
Grafton Group's Irish merchanting division is planning to invest €500,000 into its Chadwicks brand by the end of the year.
Grafton's Republic of Ireland merchanting brands include Chadwicks, Heiton Buckley and Panelling Centre.
The Chadwicks chain currently has 18 branches across Ireland. This year, six stores will benefit from upgrades and an additional six will be refreshed during 2019. The updated stores will feature improved layout and digital signage, along with open counters so customers can pick up and test products.
Grafton also upgraded the Heiton Buckley chain this year.
CEO at Grafton Merchanting RoI, Patrick Atkinson, told the The Irish Times that the updates were to make it easier for customers to do business with the company. He also told the publication that Grafton was 'doing some work' on brand consolidation and indicated that his preference for 'one brand', and advised that work on this would be completed by the end of the year.
Mr Atkinson confirmed that the investment in people and training is a focus, “to ensure that our customer service and product knowledge remains a key differentiator in this sector”.
The Group has partnered with the Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board to create a Builders Merchant Traineeship programme, which it plans to roll out across Ireland next year.
