Former MP Michael Jack becomes Topps Tiles Chairman
Former north west Tory MP Michael Jack has taken over as chairman of Topps Tiles after Barry Bester stood down with immediate effect.
Mr Jack, who represented Fylde between 1987 and 2010, joined the Topps board in 1999 and was its senior non-executive director.
In addition to his role at Topps Tiles, the UK's largest tile and wood flooring specialist, which has its finance, administrative and IT headquarters in Cheadle Hulme, he chairs the Office of Tax Simplification in the Treasury, is a Privy Councillor and an adviser to HSBC.
Mr Jack, 64, said: “Topps Tiles is a remarkable and robust company. For me to have been chosen by the board to succeed Barry Bester as its chairman is a very great honour.
“I know we have a strong management team and great staff and I am looking forward to working with them all so that, together, we can continue the development of the range of products and services which our customers want.”
Mr Bester has spent 26 years in the Topps business, serving as chief executive before he became chairman. He said he has chosen to resign as he has been spending an increasing amount of time on his other private business interests.
