Exclusive talks on cards in Robert Dyas auction

Three bidders are understood to remain in the race for hardware store chain Robert Dyas after owners Lloyds and Allied Irish Bank began an auction earlier this year.

Some reports suggest there had been five interested parties at one stage.

Corporate financier Cavendish, which is handling the disposal, hopes to enter exclusive talks with a preferred bidder soon with a view to a sale early next month.

It is unclear who the remaining bidders are. Financial Mail revealed in March that discount store group Wilkinson was in the running.
