Evergreen Garden Care Launches Evergreen Academy

Evergreen Garden Care has launched the Evergreen Academy to help garden centre employees grow their knowledge around all things Garden Care, including Compost, Lawn care, Plant Care, Weed Control, Plant Protection, Sustainability and Perfect Store. The award-winning certified course is free and accessible to any garden centre stocking Evergreen Garden Care products.

The Evergreen Academy offers staff the opportunity to develop their confidence when selling the products and advising on customer’s needs. Tricky questions surrounding lawn care, composting and weed control can throw even the most experienced garden centre employee, yet the academy could be the life saver.

With a difficult 18 months for retail behind us, customer satisfaction is key, especially for those new lockdown gardeners emerging. In 2020, the Evergreen Academy was created to ensure garden centre employees felt confident recommending the right garden care products, leading to greater customer satisfaction. Recently, the course won the GLEE 2021 Best Retail Services & Experience award, and in 2022 Evergreen will be adding further modules around plant protection, home pest control, hard surface protection and autumn lawn care.

The Evergreen Academy covers all garden care categories from Lawn Care, Compost and Plant Food to Plant Protection and Weed Control, as well as sustainability policies and how to organise and merchandise Garden Care in store and in the yard.

Mark Portman, Managing Director of Evergreen Garden Care said “We launched the academy to give garden centre staff an injection of confidence and expertise surrounding the key garden care categories they’re selling. The course is appropriate for anybody working in the industry looking to top up their knowledge and keep up with new products. With lockdown gardening being such a hit, there are new customers looking for advice walking into garden centres every day, and the academy can keep staff armed with the knowledge they need to best advise them and make the sale.”

Evergreen Academy student Paddy, from Colne Valley Garden Centre, commented “I found the e-learning straightforward to use and not too time consuming, so I could fit studying around peak work hours. Each module was extensive and informative. I really liked how the course goes into detail on each category. The information was useful to pass on to my team so they are educated in front of the customer and comfortable recommending the best product to do the job.”

The course is free and open to any garden centre stocking Evergreen Garden Care products.
