eSpares Encourages Channel 5 Viewers To 'Repair, Don't Replace' Appliances
espares.co.uk, the UK’s largest provider of home appliance spare parts, is proud to announce it is being featured on Channel 5’s Shop Smart, Save Money programme to show how easy and cost effective it can be to repair home appliances. The company’s ‘repair don’t replace’ ethos aims to save consumers money and save faulty items from ending up on the mountain of electronic waste (e-waste) created each year.
According to WEEE.org and the UN1, 8kg of e-waste per person will be produced worldwide in 2023. This means 61.3 million tonnes of electronic waste will be discarded within a year - more than the weight of the Great Wall of China. Globally, just 17.4% of this waste, containing a mixture of harmful substances and precious materials, will be recorded as being properly collected and recycled. The remaining 50.6 million tonnes will be either placed in landfills, burned, or simply hoarded in households. The eSpares expert advice team have created over 860 HOW TO advice guides on repairing appliances, with easy-to-follow step-by-step videos. Working with the Channel 5 Shop Smart, Save Money production crew, they took them through the diagnostic and repair process to fix a faulty vacuum cleaner.
You can see Georgie Barrat attempt to repair a faulty vacuum cleaner with nothing more than the spare part and eSpares easy-to-follow YouTube guide at 13 minutes 49 seconds in to the programme (3 minute segment).
