Dulux Trade Reveals Colour of the Year for 2020: Tranquil Dawn™
A panel of decorating experts selected the soft green to embody the nation’s mood on the approach of a new decade.
The Colour of the Year and four supporting colour palettes are part of the support Dulux Trade provides to help decorators to talk about colour choice with their customers.
Tranquil Dawn™ is a natural yet contemporary colour, reflective of a need to disconnect from technology, make time for human connections and bring the outside inside, which makes it the perfect backdrop for a wide variety of customer projects.
The four supporting trend palettes show how Tranquil Dawn™ can be used to decorate rooms in colour schemes which reflect what homeowners want in the year ahead, with subtle and peaceful colours that allow decorators to discuss a wide range of interior styles.
Heleen van Gent, Head of the AkzoNobel Global Aesthetic Centre, who chairs the expert panel explains: “We looked at a huge range of topics that are affecting people both politically and culturally. It was easy to recognise that despite the positive effects that technology has had on our world, it is now time to take stock.
“We live so chaotically that our homes and work spaces really need to be safe spaces where we can feel both relaxed and creative.
“There are so many demands on our time, we need to make space for human connections - and we hope to inspire people to put their phones and technology aside and live in the moment some more.”
