Dobbies Partners With The Tree Council As A Jubilee Partner
Dobbies, the UK’s leading garden centre retailer, will be planting 500 trees and 100 metres of hedgerows across the UK, as part of its partnership with The Tree Council, formed in celebration of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
This commitment from Dobbies, alongside 69 like-minded and green–hearted partners, will see over 35,000 trees and 7 kilometres of hedgerows planted across the country.
Planting will take place during the 2022/23 tree planting season. The initiative will bring benefits to the environment by supporting biodiversity and wildlife, and local communities including schools and young people will enjoy greater opportunities to connect with nature and improve their mental health and wellbeing.
The Tree Council is an official Delivery Partner of The Queen’s Green Canopy and has launched the Jubilee Partners initiative to enable companies to come together to plant trees in celebration of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Graeme Jenkins, CEO at Dobbies, said: “This initiative from The Tree Council demonstrates the power of collective impact when it comes to environmental outcomes, and it is something we are proud to be part of as we look towards the Jubilee celebrations.
“Sustainable practices and caring for the environment are at the top of our agenda, and Dobbies is committed to driving positive change. In working with The Tree Council, we are happy to be playing a part by increasing the number of green spaces across the UK, bringing benefits to local communities across the country.”
Sara Lom, Chief Executive, The Tree Council, said: “We are delighted to partner with Dobbies through our Jubilee Partners programme, in celebration of The Queen’s Green Canopy and Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this year.
“Thanks to Dobbies and our other inspiring Jubilee Partners, we will be planting and caring for an amazing 35,000 trees and 7 kilometres of hedgerow to mark The Queen’s 70 years on the throne. The trees will be planted by our network of thousands of schools, community groups and volunteers across the UK, bringing local communities together to tackle climate change, enhance biodiversity and help safeguard the wellbeing of the planet.”
