Dobbies partners with Easynet for new IT platform
In today's challenging retail environment, combining an almost 150-year heritage with an ability to embrace technology is an enviable achievement, but Dobbies has done exactly that. One of the UK's largest garden centre retailers, Dobbies has grown from strength to strength with 34 stores and a digital presence. Now it has signed a contract with Easynet Global Services for a new resilient network which will provide a platform for its retail operations and support its strategic growth plans.
For the retailer shifting vast amounts of data each day both in store and online, network resilience is everything. A network outage is simply not an option, at peak times in particular, when EPOS and authorisation systems need to share information rapidly. With this in mind, Easynet spent time getting to know and understand Dobbies' entire organisation, its strategy, objectives and future plans.
David Gammie, Director of IT for Dobbies Garden Centres Ltd said, "We're in a really exciting place at the moment, with a strong customer offer that we want to build on. A robust and reliable IT platform will help us to continue to deliver a great customer experience, and drive forward our growth plans. Easynet has taken time to get to know our organisation, and demonstrated a thorough understanding of our industry."
Adrian Thirkill, UK MD for Easynet Global Services said, "It's fantastic to see a stalwart of Great Britain's retail industry truly embrace IT. Dobbies has been operating for the best part of a century and a half, and its new robust IT infrastructure really is a springboard for growth".
