Dobbies CFO Retires

Dobbies Garden Centre - Exterior 725 x 500

After just over a year in post, Anthony Liam Grace, the CFO of Dobbies Garden Centre Group, has left the business.

In a statement, Dobbies commented “As planned, Tony Grace retired as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in June 2023. Tony has been a great support to the Dobbies team, and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”

The garden centre group has recently undergone significant changes to its structure, with 4 Directors leaving as Dobbies shares were bought by its main lender, Ares Management. They were the principal lender to Dobbies with a loan outstanding of £224m at the date of the last accounts.

At the time, Dobbies stated “Ares’ funds have been lenders and shareholders since the business was acquired from Tesco in 2016. With the support of Ares’ funds, we will continue to execute on our strategy to drive the long-term growth of Dobbies.”

It should mean that the garden centre properties that were tied up as security for the Ares loans become untangled should the new owners wish to restructure the group

Dobbies have said that they will announce details of their new CFO in due course, in the meantime existing members of their Finance team have stepped up.
