DIY Week Awards moves back to London with new categories

DIY Week Awards

Entry into the 2018 DIY Week Awards is now open, with a host of all-new categories recognising retailing excellence and supplier product innovation right across the home improvement and garden sector.

The long-established industry event recently announced a move back to London for 2018, with the awards set to take place on Friday, 11th May at the Park Plaza Victoria in London.

DIY Week explains that it has also expanded and refreshed its award categories for next year’s event in order to keep pace with the changing industry. Retail businesses now have the opportunity to put themselves or their colleagues into the running for:

  • The Business Expansion Award
  • Marketing Initiative Award
  • Training & Development Award
  • Team of the Year (20+ branches)
  • Team of the Year (fewer than 20 branches)
  • Website/Digital Initiative of the Year
  • Retailer of the Year

Meanwhile suppliers and manufacturers are able to put their products and campaigns forward for:

  • Decorating Product of the Year
  • DIY Product of the Year
  • Garden Tool of the Year
  • Hand Tool and Accessory of the Year
  • Home & Kitchen Product of the Year
  • Lighting & Electrical Product of the Year
  • Power Tool and Accessory of the Year
  • Security Product of the Year
  • Garden Care Product of the Year
  • Garden Leisure Product of the Year
  • Digital Investment of the Year
  • Retailer Support Initiative

Fiona Garcia Editor of DIY Week told Insight DIY: “DIY Week’s awards events have a long history of celebrating the very best our vibrant industry has to offer. Being considered for an award is the perfect chance for forward-thinking retail businesses and suppliers to have their hard work and innovation rewarded. It also provides an opportunity to get their achievements or unique products in front of our independent judging panels and a host of influential peers on the day.”

The DIY Week Awards’ dedicated retailer and product judging panels are made up of a number prominent industry figures, including buyers from leading high street names and top independents. The overall winners in each category will be announced at the DIY Week Awards luncheon in London on Friday, May 11.

Fiona added: “We are really excited about the relocation of the DIY Week Awards. For a number of years the event has been hosted at venues in Manchester and the Midlands but will come to London in 2018, following in the footsteps of popular past DIY Week events, the Industry Awards and Product of the Year Awards. The central London location and new timing will hopefully be a winning formula for those attending and will provide plenty of opportunity to network during and after the event.”

All entries will be accepted online this year via the all-new awards site www.diyweekawards.co.uk, where full information about each category and the event itself can be found.
